The Parish Council have received several reports of anti-social behaviour in and around the village and in particular of young people both from the village and outside of the village meeting and even camping in the disused reservoir area. This is a very dangerous area. The criminal damage to the monument in the Memorial Garden, was reported to the police. Thankfully the monument has been repaired by Mr Eric Scott Jnr. and is now back in place.
The police are investigating the incident and state that, if residents have any concerns regarding future incidents or feel they need to contact the police should use the designated non-emergency contact number 101. In an emergency call 999.
Northumbrian Water Limited, owners of the reservoir site, have been contacted and are taking action to make the site more secure. They stressed the site is very dangerous and is private property and people entering this area are trespassing and therefore are liable to prosecution.
